2008 Porsche 911 GT2 (997)

The prospect of combining the most powerful turbo engine in their range at the time, with a manual gearbox and mounting them in a 2-wheel drive lightweight 911 was the inspiration for the, rather special, Porsche 911 GT2. At the same time Porsche upgrade and modify the suspension, brakes and engine output whilst lightening and removing interior components to create the ultimate driver's version of the car at that time. This recipe has been used with the 993, 996 and 997 versions of their iconic 911 model.

This car is the 997 GT2 version of the Porsche 911, introduced in 2008 and produced until 2012. The engine uses twin variable geometry water cooled turbo-chargers producing a serious 523bhp and 500 lbs foot of torque, which leads to a terminal speed in excess of 210mph and a 0-60mph time of just 3.6 seconds!

This 997 911 GT2 was purchased new by an Italian collector in August 2008, prior to moving it on to a couple in Monaco, where it was used by the former wife of motor racing Grandee, John Wilment, until purchased by the current owner last year. The odometer is reading only 13,258 miles and, as one might expect, the car presents beautifully. The interior looks and smells fresh with minimal wear to the driver's bolster or gear-stick. Factory options include the Clubsport pack, half-cage, alcantara seats, harnesses and the paint has been subtly protected with clear film on the wings, doors, bumper and bonnet.

Supplied with UK registration papers, a current MoT, all the service books and manuals, UK Tracker and UK spec headlamps, this Porsche will be coming direct from Reading HQ, where it has been maintained and stored since coming to the UK last year. A fresh service has just been carried out and recent bills in the history file come to around £5,000. Consequently, this GT2 is on the button and ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.

GT2 models have traditionally held their value exceptionally well, and are regarded as highly collectable amongst Porsche fans worldwide. Silverstone Auctions sold a 997 GT2 RS in May 2015 for £281,250 and in comparison, this GT2, with very similar performance, looks superb value for money.
