2010 Aston Martin Vantage GT2 ex Le Mans Race Car

Aston Martin was the dominant force in world sports car racing in the late fifties, winning Le Mans in 1959 with the factory DBR 1 driven by Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby. They went on to win the World Sportscar Championship in the same year, becoming only the second manufacturer to beat Ferrari at the time. This inspiration led the factory to return to World Sportscars racing during the last decade, under the guiding eye of Aston Martin owner and Chairman, David Richards, through his world renowned Prodrive Racing Team in Banbury.

In 2010, JMW Motorsport became a development partner of Aston Martin Racing embarking on the 5 race programme in the LMS series, including Le Mans. Over previous seasons JMW had enjoyed success in the GT3 category, including Le Mans, and were well qualified to partner the programme. The first 2 races saw excellent qualifying results at both Paul Ricard (5th place) and Spa (7th place), and at Le Mans the team were running very competitively until an accident put them out after just 7 hours of racing. After Portimao (finished 4th) and the Hungaroring (finished 6th), the car got pole position at Silverstone and it's best result for the year a 3rd place in the GT2 category.

Aston Martin Vantage GT2, chassis no.006, is offered with a complete spares package and all the 2010 factory upgrades. The P1 Sigma data logger is complete with all load cells and sensors and it has the 2010 aero upgrade package and spare bodywork. All pipework for the A/C and fluids is dry-breaked and the wiring loom has all the correct connectors. The drivers seat is fully adjustable, as is the steering column, and there are a considerable number of suspension and brake spares along with 3 complete sets of BBS wheels. Most major 'lifed' components are only 1/3rd or less through their wear cycle.

This is an incredible opportunity to own a current car that is still eligible to compete at world level motorsport today in GT Open, the LMS series, the ALMS or the FIA World Endurance Championship, that also has Le Mans history (and could compete at this year's Le Mans support race!) and can easily be upgraded to current 2012 spec by the factory, still saving over £150,000 on the equivalent cost new today of £450,000 (plus spares!). Alternatively, it represents an opportunity to own a piece of genuine Aston Martin history, with Le Mans pedigree, as a very worthwhile investment for future potential growth.
