2010 Caterham 7 Superlight R500

The Caterham Seven is based on the Lotus Seven, a lightweight sports car sold in both kit and factory-built form by Lotus from the late 1950s to the early 1970s. After Lotus ended production of the Seven, in 1972, Caterham bought the rights to design, build and evolve this iconic motorcar. The Caterham Superlight R500 represents the ultimate expression of Colin Chapman's original design concept. Big power isn't the only route to big kicks; the R500 encapsulates this principal with devastating consequences. Stripped to the bare essentials, all unnecessary comforts are removed to save weight and reduce mass. As with the other Caterham 7 Superlight models, the result is a car with performance to take your breath away while delivering driving thrills in the very purest form. The R500 Superlight is powered by a 2.0 litre Ford Duratec engine with 263bhp on tap. The results are astonishing when you consider the car weighs only 506kg and has a power-to-weight ratio of over 500bhp-per-tonne. 0-60 mph comes up in 2.88 seconds going on to a top speed of 150 mph, making this the ultimate weapon for both road and track.R5000G is one of the highest specification R500s ever built. The car was assembled by the Caterham factory and has been meticulously cared for with regular professional servicing. It has recently undergone a nut and bolt check-over and service from Caterham. In addition to the very high standard specification, the car boasts the following options: 6-speed Quaife sequential straight-cut gearbox, Bilstein race damper kit, quick-ratio steering rack, superlight roll-cage, Raceco titanium sleeved exhaust, special Renault Liquid Yellow pearlescent paint and lowered floors. The car has also been diagonally corner weighted and setup by respected marque specialists DRP-Racing. Complete with private number plate R500 0G, has the running in mileage of 2,500 miles and has never been raced. The equivalent new R500 would cost in excess of £52,000 today.
