SUMMARY

The best modern-era Porsche?

DESCRIPTION

A proper GT3 RS Gen II in arguably their signature colour combination 444bhp, 0-60 in 3.9 secs, 193 mph Supplied in Germany originally, and Porsche serviced, been in the UK since 2014 A future classic The Porsche 911 GT3 is a high-performance version of the Porsche 911 primarily intended for racing, and named after the FIA Group GT3 class in which it was designed to compete, whilst the iconic 'RS' moniker is only ever attached to the very best and most extreme race-cars-for-the-road produced by Porsche, beginning with the 1973 911 Carrera RS. These RS cars are often only produced for the road to allow for homologation to enable Porsche to compete in various racing categories, generating the mystique and high-regard in which they are always held. In May 2010, Porsche introduced the second generation 911 GT3 RS (often known as 997.2 GT3 RS) to great critical acclaim. It was described by every creditable performance motoring journal as 'the best driver's 911 yet'. The 3.8-litre flat-six - up from 3.6-litres in the previous 997 RS - produces 444bhp at 7900rpm, giving the car a 0-60 mph time of 3.9 secs and a 0-100 mph time of 8.4 secs, on the way to a top speed of 193 mph. The Gen ll GT3 RS is effectively a 'Carrera Cup' car for the road, with weight saving measures including a titanium exhaust, it was only available with a motorsport-derived six-speed manual gearbox, and the car's mind-blowing performance combined with racing-derived suspension, and an exceptional ride/handling balance, allows the possibility of daily usage for a privileged few. It was really only a few in the UK - with just 35 examples officially imported by the UK dealer network. This left-hand drive 2010 Gen ll GT3 RS was delivered new on the 10th December 2010 via Porsche Centre (Stuttgart) - which, of course, is the home of the marque. In its striking Carrera White (B4B4) paintwork adorned with the famous red decals, the car is perhaps the ultimate expression of its type. The car was routinely serviced at Porsche Stuttgart and Porsche Oberschwaben, with it, and its second German owner Herr Velkovski, being known personally to the dealership salesman Stefan Schmucker. He knew the car to be well-maintained and cherished by this customer and was naturally surprised when, whilst driving on the autobahn with the mileage at 24,985 (40,211 kms), it suffered an engine fault for an unknown reason. This resulted in Porsche, on the 1st July 2013, taking the car into its workshops at Oberschwaben and fitting a brand new replacement engine. This, not inexpensive, work was carried out on behalf of the German owner, and there is an official document attached to the service book documenting all the relevant details. As you'd expect, with the work done in-house by Porsche it would have all been expertly carried out, utilising the correct GT3 RS M9777-type engine. It was then serviced again at Porsche Oberschwaben some 1,400 miles later with an indicated mileage of 26,404 miles (42,494 kms). Reassuringly, Porsche Centre Stuttgart (and Stefan Schmucker) were subsequently confident enough to re-offer it for sale as an official approved used car, with an indicated mileage of 30,820 miles (49,600 kms) - this actually being just 5,835 engine-miles. All these details have been confirmed by Silverstone Auctions. The car was bought by a UK buyer and imported in December 2014, being presented for an MoT and VCA Mutual Recognition at this time, now showing 31,664 miles. The MoT was passed and the various checks/adjustments and/or changes were done to the car to conform to UK erequirements. The Porsche was enjoyed by its first UK owner only sparingly, before selling it to his friend in November 2017, who also only used it infrequently, with just 651 miles covered between December 2014 and August 2017. In-between these dates, on the 28th September 2016, the car was treated to a service at Porsche Centre Silverstone (showing 32,218 miles). The car's indicated mileage today is just 33,033, but, given the engine work carried out by its maker, the engine-mileage is actually just over 8,000 miles. At this price guide, given its exclusivity and the expert work carried out by Porsche, this is a truly tempting package.
