2011 Ferrari 458 Challenge Race Car

The 458 Challenge was presented at the Ferrari Annual Dealer Meeting on 14 July 2010. Ferrari say their newest Ferrari Challenge racer can lap the Fiorano test track in 1:16.5, which is two seconds faster than its F430 Challenge predecessor and only 0.2 seconds slower than the Ferrari FXX. Weight was reduced from the standard model through the use of thinner body panels, carbon fibre replacement panels and polycarbonate windows and windshield. The differences over the regular road legal 458 include a racing cockpit, windows which only open through small slots, air-jack mounting on the rear to lift, racing fuel filler cap and racing rims, as well as hooks on the front and rear to drag the car out of the sand-traps!

This car was run and prepared by the respected and professional Balfe Motorsport Team in the 2013 GT Cup and Pirelli Ferrari Open Championships; achieving podium finishes at most rounds.

It benefits from a number of upgrades above a standard 458 Challenge car notably an aero pack which includes carbon fibre front splitter and rear diffuser along with a multi adjustable rear wing and carbon fibre Aero rear bumper and sills. Handling is improved due to the adjustable 4-way Intrax dampers and stopping power is not compromised by the Rollcentre Racing steel brake conversion over the, hugely expensive to maintain, carbon option. Performance is enhanced by the custom made straight through exhaust and engine remap to approx. 605bhp.

It left Balfe Motorsport in August 2013 fully prepared and ready to race but has not been used in competition since then.

The guide price is exceptionally competitive in the current market and made even more appealing by the fact that it is not subject to VAT, as so many others currently are.
