SUMMARY

A two-owner, low-mileage example of Alfa Romeo’s supercar in a family saloon suit, ready to give many more miles and smiles

DESCRIPTION

Background:

Launched in 2016, Alfa Romeo’s Giulia not only revived a proud name that had been moribund since 1978 but also re-introduced a longitudinal front engine, rear-drive format missing from the model line-up since sales of the 75 fizzled out in 1992.

The brainchild of CEO, Sergio Marchionne, this was a clean-sheet design, with an all-new platform conceived under ex-Ferrari engineer Philippe Krief. Marco Tencone at Centro Stile Alfa Romeo was responsible for the new model’s look, with close scrutiny from Marchionne delaying the launch, as he sent the initial design back to the drawing board.

The first model in Alfa’s grand restructuring plan was launched with a performance version - the Quadrifoglio – as the flagship, boasting a sonorous 503bhp twin-turbo direct-injection 2.9-litre V6, derived from Ferrari’s then-current F154 V8 (as seen in the California) by Ferrari engineers.

Driving through a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission - with a ZF 6-speed manual as an option – a torque-vectoring rear differential allowed 100% of torque to be sent to each rear wheel. Reining in the ample performance, Ceramic Composite Material carbon-ceramic brake discs were fitted.

With the same composite and light-alloy construction as the rest of the range, the Quadrifoglio stands out from its lesser siblings thanks to a more aggressive sporting body treatment, with unique front spoiler/splitter, side skirts, boot-lid spoiler and rear diffuser, as well as 19" alloys.

The Quadrifoglio’s performance is strong enough for a manual version to have set a saloon car record on the Nurburgring’s Nordschleife - seven minutes 39 seconds – with a staggering 0-62 time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 191mph. Plenty to turn a family five-seater four-door into a true performance weapon to rival machines like Mercedes’ C63 and BMW’s M3.

The car:

This menacing all-black 2019 Quadrifoglio is a cherished two-owner car with just 49,000 recorded miles, which boasts a full Dealer service history, including a ‘big belt service’ in 2023.

In excellent condition, this Giulia has an impressive specification. In addition to the standard high quality interior and exterior fittings, the car boasts a long list of desirable extras, including the full carbon fibre package and a factory alloy wheel upgrade. Rain-sensing wipers, auto-dip headlights and full parking sensors, with rear-view camera are fitted, for maximum everyday usability. To add to the sensory overload, there is an exhaust valve upgrade on the key ring which allows the fabulous V6 to really clear its throat!

The luxurious sporty interior features heated Alcantra seats with green and white stitching (to match the quadrifoglio verde badging) with electric adjustment and memory function. Facing the driver is a heated Quadrifoglio leather Alcantara flat-bottomed Sports steering wheel with carbon insert. A leather-wrapped dashboard and upper door panels are also fitted and the entertainment system features top-quality Harman Kardon audio.
