DESCRIPTION
The Omega Plo-Prof was developed in conjunction with Comex and the legendary Jacques Cousteau, Omega conceived and developed what was probably the first waterproof watch designed and built solely for the diving professional. The watch took 4 years to come to the market after extensive testing and arrived in 1970. It was nicknamed PloProf by the French speaking development team and derives from the French term PLOngeur PROFessionnel (Professional Diver).
This was the first of the divers watches to arrive and are instantly distinctive by the large solid billet stainless steel case shape. The case is made from one piece stainless steel and on the left side incorporates the crown which screws down and locates the end-square. The right side has a red button which locks the rotating bezel in position to guarantee no changes in position. The bezel is large black in colour and when released rotates uni directionally with a distinctive click. The dial is original black with faded batons and orange minute hand. The date is positioned at the 3 o clock position in white. The movement is a omega cal. 1002 Automatic mechanical. This watch is original and with out doubt an iconic piece of horological and diving history. Who wouldn't want one?
