DESCRIPTION
Auto Union, with Nazi backing, produced some stunning Grand Prix cars between the wars. The 1938/39 Type D was no exception. A mid-mounted 3-litre supercharged V12 boasting 485bhp at 7,000rpm made the car spectacularly competitive, with Tazio Nuvolari winning at Monza and Donnington.
