SUMMARY
WWI US Army dispatch bike with a fascinating history.
DESCRIPTION
- The Cleveland Motorcycle Manufacturing Company produced bikes from 1915 to 1929
- The A2 Lightweight 'round tank' was selected as a dispatch bike when the USA entered WW1 in 1917 along with other manufacturers including Harley, Indian and Henderson
- Lightweight, basic engineering and reliability made it a popular choice among dispatch riders
- This example was picked up outside Paris after WWI after being abandoned by the US Army and remained in the same family since the 1950s
- Restored over a 30-year period in France and then shipped in the 1970s to Holland by a family member when the original owner and his son passed away
- Described as being in running order but may require some recommissioning before use
- Period-correct Nirona lighting kit included as pictured
- Complete with history file containing its original old French logbook, Dutch import form and other associated paperwork. There is no UK-registration paperwork offered with this lot, and registration will be the responsibility of the buyer
- Great piece of WWI history
