SUMMARY

Family owned from new "Russian Model" Royal Ruby V-Twin JAP.

DESCRIPTION

  • Royal Ruby were a Manchester-based motorcycle company that produced a range of quality motorcycles between 1906 and 1922
  • In 1916, they produced a shipment of JAP V-Twin powered motorbikes destined for the Russian Imperial Army
  • The 1917 Russian revolution caused payment disruptions and the bikes remained unpaid
  • Bikes destined for Russia were then sold to other markets and a few were sold in the UK. This bike is believed to be one of these 'Russian Models'
  • This restored example has been in the same family since it was built in 1918 and was their main form of transport up until WWII when it was stored away in the cellar
  • Our vendor's relative was an employee of Royal Ruby at the time it was built and 50 years later it was restored to its present condition by the son-in-law of the original owner
  • Still retains most of its original features including Druid front forks, Amac carburettor, P&H carbide lights and Lucas King of the Road horn
  • Extensive history file including copy old RF60 dated 1925, insurance documents from the late 1930s, period photos of the bike in use during the 1920s/1930s, photos of the restoration, restoration receipts, various correspondence to clubs and specialists and other related paperwork
  • Running up until recently but may require some recommissioning before use. UK-registered
