SUMMARY
One of just eight survivors and believed to be the sole remaining 1923 example of the 16/40 - a quality touring car ideal for VSCC events.
DESCRIPTION
- The final iteration of the pre-war Sunbeam 16hp, the 16/40 is powered by a four-cylinder 3,015cc engine mated to a 4-speed gearbox - comfortable 45/50mph cruising
- Known history since 1952 with a Sunbeam Register Certificate confirming its original UK registration number, WY 8613. Purchased by the late John Burns and imported to Ireland in 1994. The late Jimmy Bowland then added the car to his fantastic collection, prior to selling to Brian King and then onto our vendor
- A very well known car in vintage motoring circles and a multiple Gordon Bennett Rally participant. Exceptionally well maintained with bills on file, the most recent being a back axle rebuild with high ratio CW&P and a new clutch etc. by Sunbeam specialist, Jim Catnach. A new hood and full tonneau cover were fitted in 2016 and remain in superb condition
- Finished in British Racing Green with black wings and sporting a delightfully patinated black leather, deep buttoned interior. An excellent quality pre-war touring car with space for six people, ideal for the family
- Currently registered in Ireland, the car enjoys free movement in the EU. If remaining in the UK, reduced import VAT of 5% will be payable
