SUMMARY

A handsome example of the popular 10.8hp Tourer from Wolverhampton-based Clyno Engineering.

DESCRIPTION

  • Cousins Ailwyn and Frank Smith had founded the Clyno Engineering Company in 1909 for the purpose of marketing an adjustable belt pulley for motorcycle transmissions
  • After WWI, they commenced production of a Coventry Climax-engined light car, the 1.4-litre 10.8hp
  • It was a great success with sales reaching 12,000 annually by 1926/27, making them the UK's third largest car manufacturer
  • First registered in 1927, this example is powered by 1,368cc four-cylinder side-valve Coventry-Climax 'Model F' fitted with a Cox Atmos carburettor and a 3-speed gearbox
  • Only two owners since the early 1950s undergoing a full restoration including engine rebuild by its previous keeper
  • Finished in pastel blue with black arches, weather covers and hood over black leather interior and grey carpets
  • VSCC-eligible and ideal for shows, rallies, or adding to a Collection of pre-war Tourers
