DESCRIPTION

Charles Nash was once president of Buick and later GM in Detroit before setting up an independent manufacture of cars under his own name. The firm expanded during the 20s and 30s, building a series of advanced 6-cylinder cars of varying size, using engines with 7 main bearing crankshafts, which made them incredibly smooth running. The company eventually amalgamated with the giant "Kelvinator' group of domestic appliance fame in 1937, after which car production declined.

The car on offer here Without Reserve is a 1928 2-door Sedan which was exported to New Zealand during the inter-war period and so has the benefit of righthand drive. The engine is as stated - a 6 cylinder, 7 main bearing side valve unit of 3010cc. The car has 4 wheel brakes, as did all Nash cars from 1924 and is built on a strong, if conventional chassis, with semi-elliptic springs front and rear and fitted with a 3 speed gearbox and central shift. The car even has it's original handbook.

Imported into Britain in 1995, it was completely restored in Christchurch prior to leaving New Zealand and is in truly magnificent condition. The interior is finished to a very high standard and is well equipped with period fittings; the 12-sided steering wheel being of special interest. The coachwork is finished in red and black, with perfect panel fit and a flawless fabric covered roof. SV 7820 is an "age related' Scottish registration plate, granted in 1999, with the V5C showing "Historic Vehicle' status which of course benefits from tax free motoring.

This beautiful and totally original Nash has been part of a historic collection and has therefore rarely seen the light of day, being used in the early part of this century for gentle vintage events. The car has not been run since 2005 and has now undergone re-commissioning to bring it back to full road use once again. It is a truly exceptional example of a rare marque, with a large, smooth 6-cylinder engine and a wonderful opportunity to acquire an American vintage car, with the benefit of righthand drive configuration.
