SUMMARY

Well maintained and very well presented, this charming 2,110cc six-cylinder Humber 16/50 is accompanied by a fascinating history file.

DESCRIPTION

  • By the late 1920s, Humber were building larger and more luxurious models and the 16/50 came to represent the epitome of middle class expectations
  • LG 4624 was first registered on 14/06/1930 and supplied new to a Chartered Accountant, Mr A.E Slater-Cook, who had a practice in Liverpool. It stayed in the family from 1930 - 1964, the only keeper change being a transfer into his daughter's name in 1954
  • The subject of a major restoration in the 1980s which included rebuilt bodywork, a rebuilt engine with new liners, new clutch and clutch plate and various re-chromed brightwork
  • Pleasingly, the Humber is accompanied by a substantial amount of history including a continuation 'buff' logbook, items of correspondence from Humber in 1930 and, later, lots of references to subsequent owners, correspondence with the Humber Register, lists of works completed from 2003 - 2017 and many newspaper and magazine articles about this special car
  • Finished in gleaming Maroon and black with a gold coachline, LG 4624 still presents beautifully with straight bodywork, Maroon-painted wheels and excellent brightwork
  • The interior appears to be largely original apart from the front seat squabs and continues to emanate the quality that set Humber apart in the 1930s. The Burgundy leather is delightfully patinated and is exactly the way you would hope to find it
  • Just sneaking into the 'Vintage' category (January 1919 to December 1930) this well maintained and well presented Humber would offer access to dozens of VSCC and Humber Owners Club events and would make an excellent entry into the addictive world of 'proper' old cars
