DESCRIPTION
The MG NB 2-Seater was the rarest of the 6-cylinder overhead camshaft N-types. Approximately 690 NA and NB models were made, making them extremely collectable in both 2 and 4 seat form. The 1280cc KD series engine was robust and reliable and with twin SU carburettors it developed 56 bhp at 5500 rpm. The NB was introduced in 1935 and had an updated body to the earlier NA, with lower lines and slight alterations to the doors, seats and instruments. Originally registered on 30th June 1936 in Kent, 'CYK 91' has resided in the south-east of England for its entire life. The continuation log book details changes of ownership until 1967, when it was purchased by the current registered keeper. Photographic evidence suggests that the car was complete and original when a ground up restoration began in the early 1980s. Such was the detail and care given to the comprehensive rebuild, the car took approximately 8 years to complete according to receipts for parts and MoT test certificates. The chassis was stripped back and ash frame lovingly restored by the car's owner, who was a master craftsman in wood construction. The engine was rebuilt and exclusively original components sourced. The entire process is documented in a photographic album. 'CYK 91' returned to the road in 1991 and has covered only 275 miles since completion. Unfortunately, ill health prevented any regular use. However, the car has been started frequently and driven to and from the MoT station annually. As one would expect, the condition of the bodywork is still in fine order and the oil pressure is healthy. Finished in stunning two-tone claret over red with deep red leather interior, this highly desirable 6-cylinder pre-war MG comes with an MoT test certificate until March 2012 and superb provenance having been cared for with only one owner over the last 44 years.
