DESCRIPTION
The Austin Motor Company launched the Austin 8 in 1939 and went on to produce about 20,000 cars during World War 2. It featured a 900cc four cylinder, side valve, engine. This was fitted to a pressed steel floor pan and then a two or four door body was simply bolted on. Some of these cars were specifically built for the military but most of them were also available to the public.
The car offered here is an early 1939 model with what is believed to be a genuine mileage of just 27,500 miles. The vendor tells us that this Austin 8 is generally in very good condition. The car has never had a major restoration and exists pretty much as it was in its original state. There are of course signs of the natural wear and tear that would have come about over its 75 year life.
The car has always been carefully stored and has rarely seen the road as can be seen from its very low mileage. We are told that the interior needs some restoration but the engine is exceptionally good and as a result this is a very reliable car despite its age. It has been run recently and started straight away, however it does need a new battery.
The Austin 8 is very easy to work on and maintain car and this example is presented in original condition. This is a great opportunity to buy an affordable and unique classic car.
