SUMMARY

Displaying Moto Guzzi's classic post-war style, this rare 'racing-red' Astorino, powered by Guzzi's own 247cc single-cylinder with exposed flywheel, makes a dramatic visual statement.

DESCRIPTION

  • The Astorino was a post-war redesign of the original Airone introduced in 1939 whose production was interrupted by the onset of WWII after only c.1,000 machines had been built
  • The combination of form-follows-function design details, striking red paintwork and lots of chrome and alloy has been described as a 'Two-wheeled Work of Art'
  • The classic 247cc horizontal single with the eye-catching meat-slicer external flywheel developed around 10bhp and was noted for its lively performance, top speed over 65mph and its reliability
  • Official Dating Certificate on file from The Old Italian Bike Register confirming its frame and engine numbers and year of manufacture
  • Copy of Italian registration from 1950 on file. UK-registered on1/08/2018. Brand new number plate YXS 624
  • Restored in Italy at some point, in 2019 the bike was on display at the Padua Show and was purchased by our vendor
  • Having formed part of his private Collection on museum display, it will require some recommissioning prior to active use
  • Moto Guzzi's period style and elegance is second to none and this older restored Astorino is a true connoisseur's example
