SUMMARY
Emanating classic Jaguar post-war elegance, this matching numbers Mk IV is offered from long term ownership at a very sensible guide.
DESCRIPTION
- The 2½-litre Saloon, latterly known as the Mk IV, marked a post-war return to production of the late-1930s SS Cars Ltd, 'Sports Saloons'
- It was incredibly elegant in an era of austerity and the huge chrome headlamps, sweeping wings and running boards, luxurious leather interior and French-polished wood all spoke of style and opulence
- Powered by a 105bhp, 2½-litre straight-six, overhead valve (push-rod) engine coupled to a 4-speed manual gear box
- This example was supplied by Wembley Court Motors, High Road, Wembley and is on offer from over 21 years ownership. Its previous owner was its custodian for over 30 years
- Its flowing lines and sweeping curves have been subject to a previous full respray in black over Gunmetal Grey and much of the brightwork has been rechromed
- The black leather seats and Walnut dashboard are believed to be original, although the carpets and headlining have been replaced
- Coming out mostly for shows, the Jaguar has won numerous local events and is also the published image for Mk IV Jaguars on Wikipedia
- Supplied with previous MOTs dating back, the original 'buff' logbook, original handbook and a workshop manual along with its original complete tool kit
