SUMMARY
A lovely example of Triumph Motors innovative post-war design.
DESCRIPTION
- The Triumph Roadster was built by Britain's Standard Motor Company from 1946 to 1949, and was first available as the Triumph 1800 Roadster (18TR) from 1946 to 1948 and subsequently as the Triumph 2000 Roadster (TRA) from 1948 to 1949
- Always an impressive looking motor car, the Triumph Roadster can claim to be the last production car to be fitted with a 'dickey' seat - a throwback to the 1930s
- On offer today, CJD 666, was first registered on 01/02/1949 and was restored throughout around 1996 by an aerospace engineer who even went as far as making the front and rear bumpers from scratch in stainless steel
- The restoration also included an interior re-trim in grey leather with new Wilton carpets, etc, while the engine was converted to unleaded compatibility
- It's next owner lived in Stoke-on-Trent and there are invoices within the extensive history file totalling £4,500 from Chris Shenton Engineering, Aston Martin Specialists in Stoke
- The Triumph was subsequently purchased by our vendor in 2016 and, during his ownership, it has benefitted from reconditioned gearbox with overdrive fitted, a new high-torque starter motor, an alternator conversion, some work to the distributor and electronic ignition
- It's finished in an attractive shade of Dark Royal Blue which retains a deep shine complemented by the sparkling brightwork
- In generally good/very good condition mechanically, with 'excellent' body, paint, and interior, this delightful Triumph Roadster affords the prospect of enjoyable summer motoring in not inconsiderable style
