SUMMARY

Incredibly rare and restored to a very high standard, the A70 Hampshire Woodie.

DESCRIPTION

  • The majority of A70 estates were built by Papworths of Cambridge with barn doors at the back, however this example was finished with an attractive tailgate
  • Powered by the robust 68bhp, 2,199cc, OHV engine from the Austin 16 with a 4-speed, column change, manual gearbox
  • This charming Woodie was exported to Canada and covered around 50,000 miles before returning to the UK in 1988. The odometer now shows 24,271, so may have been replaced
  • It was carefully restored around that time and converted to right-hand drive. The engine was fully rebuilt along with the transmission brakes and suspension
  • Part of two Private Collections up until 2020 and little, if ever, used.
  • Purchased by our vendor and further enhanced by having the rear tailgate rebuilt with Ash, the roof lining structure replaced and the car superbly detailed
  • Supplied with an in-depth history file including photos of all the restoration works completed
  • Out of 901 examples of the BW3 Countryman built, we understand that only seven survive
