Essentially original with lots of character

The first version of the Velocette MAC was launched in 1933 and was developed from the overhead valve Velocette MOV 250cc, which suffered from reliability problems. The single cylinder engine was enlarged to 349cc and could comfortably reach 75mph. The early MAC weighed 280lb and had 'girder' front forks. On the outbreak of the Second World War, military versions of the MAC(the WD) and the MAF were produced. The MAC (WD) had an upgraded clutch and the MAF had a new 'up-for-down' gear shift. The pressed-steel front brake drum was replaced by a cast-iron version which became standard for the later MAC. After the war, MAC production restarted and in 1948 the outdated girder forks were replaced with innovative air-sprung Dowty Oleomatic forks.

This Velocette is a rare find, essentially original with a level of patina that is just so hard to find. It has amazingly survived 66 years without having a major restoration. The bike has character by the bucket full. The engine runs and will need a light recommissioning to return to its full former glory, however, we imagine that anyone in the market for a '52 MAC will know exactly what they are looking for.
