DESCRIPTION
- One of the most famous racing motorcycles of all time and named after the Manx Grand Prix
- Launched initially in 1939 as an 'over the counter' race bike in either 350cc or 500cc spec and in production until the end of 1962
- Developed continuously throughout its lifetime with the additions of double overhead camshaft engines and featherbed frames
- This example is a Model 40 350cc model and very unusually for a bike of this age has matching frame and engine numbers
- Was believed to have been raced in 1956 by Terry Shepherd in the Junior TT and finished tenth
- According to factory records the bike was supplied new to Simisters in Birkenhead in 1956 and sold to Shephard
- Complete with Norton dating certificate
- In good running order with a new RGM Norton clutch recently fitted at a cost of circa £1,000
- Fitted with an original 4-speed gearbox and complete with spare mega cone exhaust
