SUMMARY
Award-winning Vincent Black Shadow 'Norvin' based on a Norton Dominator 99 rebuilt with a new wide-line Manx frame cradling a chopped 1950 998cc Vincent Black Shadow engine and five-speed gearbox. Restored over six years into its current condition by experienced engineer Mick Sobalak. Magazine featured, this is an absolutely classic Café Racer.
DESCRIPTION
- The "Norvin", basically a Norton frame combined with a Vincent engine, was very much inspired by the fictional Bike Magazine character 'Ogri'
- The Norton frame was known as probably the best handling frame, in period, and was particularly popular with builders of 'Café Racers'
- This, show-winning, Black Shadow-powered example, is presented in very good overall condition. It has run in the last year but may require some light recommissioning before use
- Originally sold new in London as a Norton Dominator 99 but later converted into a 'Norvin' café racer in the 1970s
- Featured in the February 2009 Classic Motor Cycle magazine and was restored over six years into its current condition by experienced engineer Mick Sobalak
- During the restoration it was fitted with a new wide-line Manx frame (the original frame is included in the sale) mated with a chopped 1950 998cc Vincent engine,
- Main features on this bike include a mighty 8 leading shoe CMA front brake, Gardner flat sided carburettors, BLR belt drive primary, BTH electronic ignition, NRE five-speed gearbox, alloy flanged-rim wheels, alloy "pie crust" tank and Velocette side-stand
- Complete with its original RF60 'buff' log book, some old tax discs, copy of the February 2009 Classic Motor Cycle and a current V5C
- UK-registered on its original registration number with a current V5C
