SUMMARY

Classically presented, this elegant Cloud 1 has benefited from a gentle, long term restoration by its fastidious owner.

DESCRIPTION

  • Introduced early in 1955, the all-new opulent Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud was conceived as a replacement for the Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn
  • It sported more contemporary bodywork on a new box-section separate chassis incorporating improved brakes and suspension, the latter featuring electrically controlled damping
  • Enlargement to 4,887cc and the adoption of a six-port cylinder head boosted the power output of the dependable inlet-over-exhaust six-cylinder engine, while automatic transmission was now standard and power-assisted steering an option
  • Dating from 1957, this S1 is supplied with a substantial history file showing recent expenditure, including a colour change to Shell Silver over Tudor Grey around eight years ago
  • Our vendor set about a slow, quality restoration with substantial works to the suspension and braking, bodywork and interior
  • Fitted retrospectively with air conditioning, the car is now ready to be enjoyed and thorough inspection is invited
  • Fast (100mph-plus), relatively economical and cheaper to maintain than the succeeding V8-engined cars, the Silver Cloud is arguably the most user-friendly of all post-war Rolls-Royce
