DESCRIPTION

The XK150 was the final incarnation of the XK and it first appeared in May 1957. A more refined and capable machine than its predecessors, the '150' was easily identifiable by its higher scuttle and door line, wider grille and improved interior space. However, the XK150 retained much of the mechanical layout of the XK140, including the same 3.4 litre DOHC Jaguar straight-six, which developed 180bhp at 5,750rpm. As before with the XK range, standard (with steel wheels) and special equipment models were available, but a bewildering range of models was to evolve. Firstly, in 1958, the 'S' model was announced, equipped to "special equipment' specification and with a more powerful engine, though still of 3.4 litre capacity. Late in 1959 further options became available with the introduction of the 3.8 litre engine and the XK150 was available not only in 3.4 litre versions, but two versions (Normal and "S") of the 3.8 variety.

A total of 2,200 XK150 Drophead Coupé models were made, of which 85% (left-hand drive versions) were sold to America, 10% went to the rest of the world and only 5% came to the UK Market ~ making this a very car indeed.

This original right-hand drive UK XK150 Drophead Coupé was built 29th April 1960 and dispatched to Sturgess Jaguar in Leicestershire. The car is a desirable 3.8 variant fitted with Manual Overdrive and finished in its original lovely colour combination of British Racing Green with Suede Green leather interior. This XK150 has been meticulously maintained through out it's life as can be seen by the large number of invoices in the history file dating back to the 1990's.

Consequently both the interior and bodywork are in superb condition. In 1997 the car was subject to extensive restorative works to the bodywork which included repairs to the both LH and RH sills, rear bulkhead and both inner and outer rear wings on each side of the car.

In 1999, with the car having covered 77,000 miles, it was subject to a full engine rebuild at a cost of £5,100 and has only travelled 6,000 miles since. In 1999 the car was also fitted with desirable uprated Coopercraft disc brakes to the front. More recently in Spring 2013 the car has benefitted from having repairs made to the bottom of the doors and also lower ¼ panels replaced on the front wings. It was then subject to a complete respray of the doors, wings and bonnet to create an even and correct finish in colour.

Also benefitting from recent refurbishment is the interior with minor repairs being made to the seats to address wear in the leatherwork.

This desirable specification Jaguar XK150 is in splendid all round condition, is a 'matching numbers' UK car and is presented with an excellent history file which includes a wealth of invoices and a Jaguar Heritage Certificate, along with past MoT's.
