DESCRIPTION

This Italian-designed Isetta microcar was built under licence in a number of different countries, including Spain, Belgium, France, Brazil, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Produced in the post-World War II years, a time when cheap short-distance nd the Big number 1. The bracelet is stainless steel and in clean condition. This is a clean Limited Edition Speedmaster and a perfect addition to any collection. Limited Edition. No. 04357/11111

transportation was most needed, it became one of the most successful and influential city cars ever created. Because of its egg shape and bubble-like windows, it became known as a "bubble car', a name later given to other similar vehicles.

With space for two and their luggage, the Isetta was perfect for the UK's urban and rural roads. In 1957, Isetta of Great Britain began producing 300 models at their factory in Brighton under licence from BMW. The British cars were right-hand drive with the door hinged from the right hand side of the car and the steering column moved across to the right as well. Being right-hand drive meant that the driver and engine were on the same side, so a counterweight was added to the left side to compensate. Lucas electrics replaced the German Hella and Bosch components, with a different headlamp housing being used. Girling brake components replaced the ATE brake parts. In 1962, Isetta of Great Britain stopped production of the little cars but continued to produce Isetta engines until 1964.The Isetta "Bubble Car' is surely the smallest car BMW will ever make! This example hails from 1961 and is a UK built Brighton car. Originally sold to Mr E J Stilling on 7th June 1961 for the sum of £369 and 15 shillings by Shrubbery Garages in Weston-Super-Mare. Mr Stilling kept the car for just 1 year before selling the car to a Mrs Iris Cannon who kept the car for 9 years before selling it to the current title owner.

Presented with a stunning history from new including the original bill of sale, owner's handbook, guarantee and workshop manual, this Brighton built Isetta is in lovely original condition having we are told never seen a welder. As can be seen in the history file the car has always been loved and well looked after being repaired when needed and not left to decay like so many. Still fitted with its original engine and matching chassis and engine numbers as BMW put it together. The car had been dry stored and since 2011 had not been started.

After a full BMW service as per the manual, an oil change, new spark plug, replaced fuel lines and the flushed fuel tank the little Isetta roared and popped back in to life.

Presented with a fresh MOT this Isetta is, we are told, in full working order ready to be driven away. If you have a little further to travel then don't worry as included in the sale is a high spec heavy duty galvanised trailer that has had relevant modifications carried out to accommodate the little BMW making it very practical to take anywhere across the country.
