1962 Daimler Dart SP 250 'B-Spec'

The Daimler SP250 by Daimler in Coventry from 1959 to 1964. The SP250 was originally known as the Daimler Dart, but Daimler soon dropped the Dart name when threatened with legal action by Chrysler's Dodge division, and the car was then renamed the Daimler SP250.

It was launched at the 1959 New York Motor Show, with a fibreglass body, four-wheel Girling disc brakes, and a 2.5-litre Hemi-head V8 engine designed by Edward Turner. Jaguar bought Daimler in 1960, and were immediately concerned about the chassis flex. To address this they brought out the B-spec, version with extra outriggers on the chassis and a strengthening hoop between the A-posts. There were also other detail improvements, including an adjustable steering column.

This excellent B-Spec example is an original RHD car still wearing its original registration number 728 BPY. In the early 1990s the car was subject to a complete restoration all of which is documented in the fantastic history file presented with the car.

From looking through the history file it would appear that the car has been well maintained and looked after throughout its life with invoices dating back to the mid 1980s. Also presented with the car is an original owners handbook and even the original Buff Log book.

Sold with a mileometer reading of 80500 miles and a fresh MOT, these Daimler SP250's have been an underrated and often over-looked classic for some time and are now starting to find traction in the market as great driving and great value British sports cars.
