DESCRIPTION

Purchased in May 2014 from motor dealer at a cost of more than £40,000, the vendors have since spent a further £3,000+ to fettle and prepare this car to a high-standard for long-distance and gruelling competitive rallies. A change of circumstances with one of the co-owners forces sale which is why the car is guided so attractively today. David Didcock engineering were enlisted to make minor improvements upon purchase of the vehicle, which included attention to front suspension, brakes, exhaust, fuel lines, cooling system, linkages, alternator, electrical gremlins and ignition and cost £1,120 labour and £1,630 parts. It is built as a Works rally replica, having benefitted from a chassis-up rebuild in 2003-2005, of which a photo record is available. New minilites, shock absorbers, fully rebuilt carburettors, rolling-road tuning, new distributor with electronic ignition, new alternator, new aluminium radiator and new tyres all round have been levied on the car since ownership in May 2014. It is sold complete with rollover bar (rear only), surrey hardtop and a new soft top. The 2213cc engine has been dyno tested and is producing 113bhp at 3,810rpm. It will be sold with rally tripmeter and two dashboard mounted stop watches. It had a FIVA Identity Card issued May 2004, but this expires after ten years so it will need to be re-applied for.

Restored 2003, the FIVA notes identify that at this time the chassis was strengthened and galvanised, engine converted for use with unleaded petrol and brakes uprated. It was also married to alloy wheels with tracking 1inch wider than original. The seats were also updated with rally style comfort seats and lighting improved by front spots. The car is FIVA eligible though the papers have lapsed and need renewing.

Included in the impressive history file is the original buff log book as well as invoices and receipts for the sale of the car between early owners. There is also a heritage certificate confirming the car to be an original righthand drive home market car in Red with Red interior and overdrive, windscreen washer, tonneau cover and 5.90-15 Goodyear tyres. Further to these are also a host of sundry invoices and receipts for years of maintenance and the thorough restoration with photographic evidence from 2003-2005 by Woodbridge Classic Cars. The FIVA notes from 2004 identify that at this time the chassis was strengthened and galvanised, engine converted for use with unleaded petrol and brakes uprated. It was also married to alloy wheels with tracking 1inch wider than original. The seats were also updated with rally style comfort seats and lighting improved by front spots.

Sold with UK V5C and fully road-legal with MOT to June 2015 this is a really fine example of the marque which would be equally as happy and capable with a thundering jaunt to the pub on a Sunday or a cross-Pyrenees timed rally!
