SUMMARY
A US-market SP310 imported by Standard-Triumph possibly for evaluation. Very rare in the UK.
DESCRIPTION
- An MG B ‘look-alike’ that was never officially sold in the UK, though was a strong seller in the US. The 1500 was produced for a limited time before being replaced by the 1600
- The 'G-spec', 1,488cc inline-four featured twin SU carbs (export) and generated 85bhp fed through a manual 4-speed gearbox
- Believed to be for 'evaluation purposes', this left-hand drive US car (SP310) was imported to the UK by the former Standard Motor Company, now better known as Standard-Triumph
- Subsequently sold to a gentleman who enjoyed the vehicle in Spain for a mere 5,804 miles before being added to a Datsun dealer's private collection
- Current long-term ownership since 2007 with the Fairlady on display at the Atwell-Wilson Motor Museum, now showing just 6,768 miles
