SUMMARY
The 1964 Earls Court Motor Show car, subsequently used for development at Jaguar before being purchased by our late vendor in 1972, directly from 'Lofty' England.
DESCRIPTION
- This, highly important E-Type, was first shown to the world at the 1964 Earls Court Motor Show. It then went onto the experimental department at Jaguar's famed Browns Lane factory and was used extensively for emissions testing for USA regulations. Spending some time in California, it returned to the UK in the early 1970s, and during its early years was used as a works hack by Lofty England as his personal transport
- Purchased by the late vendor Jim Graham from Jaguar in 1972 – Jim worked in Jaguar’s Experimental Department and had known and worked on the car from new
- In his 50 years of ownership, the Jaguar was raced and hillclimbed extensively. Restored in 1995 to its current specification with fibreglass bonnet, many spares including the original interior and bumpers, plus many other parts accompany the car but will need collecting post sale from Southam, Warwickshire
- Last used in anger in 2019 at Shelsley Walsh, the Jaguar has been in storage since. A check-over has been carried out, new battery fitted and the car is now running and driving. Further recommissioning will be required before seeing active use once more
- This is a wonderful Classic Jaguar with many a story to tell, an important part of Jaguar development history, and owned by two of motor racing's great characters.
