SUMMARY
Supplied new to Australia, 'Matilda' has enjoyed a day or two in the sunshine.
DESCRIPTION
- Announced at the same time as the E-Type, Jaguar's new luxury car for the 1960s was designated the Mark 10 (it was never called the Mk X) and proved to be a major advance
- The 3.8-litre, XK engine featured triple SU carburettors and generated 265bhp whilst the fully independent rear suspension resulted in excellent handling
- This 1964 example was found by our vendor in Australia and shipped back to the UK in 2006
- Since she's been back, 'Matilda' has benefited from much attention over the years including a refurbished gearbox, significant work to the suspension and brakes, SU carbs serviced, converted to electronic ignition, the choke modified to a simple switch and the rev counter repaired. It was fully Waxoyled underneath last year
- Internally, the door cards have been replaced, the leather treated and the veneers replaced all around except for the picnic tables in the rear
- The 66,632 miles indicated is believed to be accurate
- Not a Wedding Car, although eminently suitable for that role, where will Matilda waltz off to now?
