1964 Mercedes-Benz 220 SE B Coupe

This is one of the most popular Mercedes-Benz models of the 1960s, elegantly styled with unique stacked headlights, large front grill and flowing lines. The Paul Bracq designed coachwork of this car is in its original period colour scheme of burgundy with a contrasting black roof and a fully restored pale grey leather interior. The odometer shows 7,400 miles, which is assumed to be the total mileage since restoration two years ago. The car has a 4-speed column change automatic gearbox, 2.2 litre straight six petrol engine and is registered as a classic car (tax exempt) with a current MOT until October 2014.

The current owner purchased the car to compliment his race entry at the Goodwood Revival meeting in 2012 and it is now surplus to requirements, with garage space needed for other projects. The car is used regularly as transport to historic race meetings and has given no trouble at all during this time.

According to the previous owner, the vehicle was subjected to a comprehensive restoration between 2009 and 2011 and it certainly presents immaculately. This included a complete rebuild of the body, running gear and engine, as well as a repaint in the original colour. Fitted with new front grille, but maintaining the ivory steering wheel and wooden dash paneling. A period Blaupunkt radio with ipod connection was fitted this year along with an electric aerial and front and rear seatbelts. The original 13" steel wheels have been replaced with 14" steel wheels styled with chrome/body colour hubcaps to improve the ride and handling along with four new Michelin tyres in April 2013. In all, some £4,500 has been spent on upgrading an already fine car since the current owner purchased her in 2012.

The cherished registration, 49 JDM, is included in the sale and has been independently valued at £7,500.

The recent upgrades make this a very useable everyday Classic.
