SUMMARY

Superbly presented and fastidiously prepared, this fabulous little Alfa is FIA-papered until 2033, offering exciting racing at some of Europe's most prestigious events for years to come.

DESCRIPTION

Alfa Romeo introduced the Giulia Spider in June 1962, being a development of the Giulietta Spider but now with a 1,570cc engine and a 5-speed gearbox. The Spider bodies were designed and built by Pininfarina in Turin and the cars were assembled by Alfa Romeo in Milan. The Veloce version used twin Weber carburettors and hotter camshafts than the Normale to produce around 129bhp.

This exceptionally rare 101 Spider Veloce was originally dispatched to Germany, equipped with the highly coveted 1,600 engine from the factory. Transitioned into a racing machine in the 1990s, it embarked on a successful and meticulously documented competitive journey, culminating in a recent comprehensive professional rebuild, leaving no nut or bolt untouched.

In the skilled hands of Dr. R Schimmer of Dusseldorf, the Alfa underwent its transformation into a race car, gracing tracks across Europe including Spa, Zolder, Zandvoort, Brno, Hockenheim and the formidable Nordschleife, where it secured an impressive ninth place overall among 185 contenders in the Eifelklassik. Notably, it triumphed at Monza in the 2010 Coppa Intereuropa, starting from the very back of the grid.

Acquired by its current custodian in 2021, it underwent a comprehensive overhaul, with attention to the rear axle, carburettors, gearbox and wiring. Engineered for reliability, it has never faltered in over 16 hours of relentless racing since its rejuvenation, looked after by Alficina, who are happy to provide race support in the future.

The Alfa boasts an impressive track record, as evidenced by its achievements seen below:

2022:

Equipe GTS – Silverstone – First in class

CSCC Classic K – Silverstone – Second in class

HRDC – Silverstone – Third in Monza class

2023:

Donington Historic HRDC – Second in class

Equipe GTS – Brands GP – Fifth in class

HSCC Road Sports – Donington – First in class

Alfa Revival Cup – Monza – First in GTS class

Equipe GTS – Zandvoort – First in 1600 class (Saturday) (with Roberto Giordanelli)

Equipe GTS – Zandvoort – First in 1600 class (Sunday)

HRDC – Brands Hatch – Second in Monza class (Grant Williams)

HRDC - Silverstone - Third in Monza class

Superbly presented, the Alfa commands attention wherever it roams, its rarity securing invitations to premier events. Prepared and compliant to FIA Appendix K (Period F 1962-65) Class GTS10 spec, the car has freshly renewed HTP papers that remain valid until 2033, offering exciting racing at some of Europe's most prestigious events.
