DESCRIPTION

When first released in 1964 The Ford Mustang created a real stir and is now regarded as the most significant launch after the Model 'A', creating an instant 12 month waiting list.

To make it affordable Ford shared the underpinnings of the popular Falcon model, including the front double wishbone/coil spring arrangement and leaf spring rear suspension. The body sat further back on the chassis than the Falcon creating a longer front end and a shorter rear overhang complemented by it's lower roofline. The iconic running horse sat prominently on the front grill and the ledgend was born.

This very smart 1965 2 door Notchback was built in 1965 as a '289' V8 manual.' Classic Car Weekly' recently featured this very car in their article celebrating this year ~ the 50th anniversary of the model. It was imported to the UK in 2012 and since then the engine has been refreshed and the car regularly used.

Showing 66,000 miles and looking absolutely resplendent in silver blue with blue stripes, both the panel gap and overall paint finish on this car are to a high standard. Nicely finished with 'American Racing' light alloy wheels the enthusiastic vendor tells us that the car drives very well. Beyond doubt is the fact that it represents an exciting opportunity in to true classic car ownership in a potential sub twenty thousand pound price bracket. It comes to the sale with a fresh 12 months MOT.

A great value American icon.
