SUMMARY
Aluminium-bodied Proteus C-Type from the late Hugh Taylor's Collection, now recommissioned and ready to be enjoyed.
DESCRIPTION
- Arguably one of the best C-Type replicas available, by architect Jim Marland initially then developed into the Proteus in 1983
- Desirable all-aluminium lightweight bodied single door 'Le Mans' body and vented bonnet owned by Hugh Taylor, BRDC Member and prominent collector
- This particular example is fitted with an XK engine marked on the block casting as '3.5-litre' which is believed to be one of a limited number of racing engines built by Jaguar. Fuelled by period triple Webbers and coupled to a 4-speed gearbox with overdrive and a live rear axle
- Finished in the early 2000s, the 'C' has been dry stored for some years then recommissioned not long ago
- All fuel and brake lines were checked along with a suspension overhaul, the carbs set-up and new Blockley tyres fitted in readiness for a return to the open road
- It currently runs on 16" wire wheels with discs on each corner, period bucket seat in Suede Green and a period, 4-spoke, wood-rim wheel
- Supplied with a detailed history file with invoices for over £40,000, many of which are from Legends Racing of Cheltenham
- This exceptional and highly accurate replica has rarely been used and offers the enthusiast the chance to live that 1950s Le Mans dream
