1965 Morris Mini Cooper S FIA Historic Race Car

The Mini Cooper has been a mainstay of the Motorsport scene around the world for over fifty years. From enthralling battles with much larger competition in period, to latter day giant killing performances in Historic Touring cars, the Mini Cooper represented an opportunity to compete at high levels for privateers with cars not far removed from the works entrants, enhanced by a plethora of emerging tuning companies and race/rally parts. Driven by names such as Hopkirk, "Whizzo' Williams and "Smokin' John Rhodes, the Mini Cooper firmly cemented its place in motorsport folklore.

Offered here is an FIA appendix K, Morris Mini Cooper S built from a bare shell by Dale Racing for the 2013 season. The shell had a new floor, inner and outer wings, and scuttle and was fitted with a welded in T45 roll cage by Custom Cages. Suspension set up included new strengthened subframes, Swiftune Koni shocks and all the latest suspension set-up tweaks. The car is fitted with the correct period rose petal alloy wheels shod with new Dunlop CR65s. Inside a new Corbeau seat is fitted together with a Willans harness, a work's dashboard and Stack instrumentation. Potential buyers should satisfy themselves as to the legality and currency of all the safety equipment in this car.

Under the bonnet is a full-race Swiftune 1293cc engine and gearbox with zero hours since the last rebuild. A Maniflow manifold and exhaust are fitted, along with a lightweight starter, alternator and Swiftune driveshafts.

This car has been prepared, maintained and run on circuit by Dale Racing and is eligible for the Masters Pre '66 Touring Cars, U2TC, HSCC Touring Car, NKHGT Dutch championship, French Maxi Mille and many other championships.

The likely cost of building a similar car today would be in excess of £65,000, making this an attractive proposition at today's guide price.
