DESCRIPTION
First introduced to the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963, the Porsche 911 has now been in production for over fifty years. From its original production car base, the 911 has become one of the most successful competition cars of all time, both as a circuit racer and rally car. As early as 1965, the 'Works' entered a 911 SWB in the Monte Carlo Rally and within two years Vic Elford was winning rounds in the European Championship. This very rare left-hand drive 2.0 is a desirable SWB A-Series European model from 1965. The current owner has treasured this example since 1998. In that time, it has been maintained correctly and has just been fully serviced by Porsche specialists in Oslo. It is accompanied by a host of paperwork and bills for maintenance works including all services since 1998. A full condition report and a substantial history file is available for inspection. The matching number engine in the vehicle was completely stripped and re-built approximately 20 years ago and at considerable cost to the first owner. This custodian was a member of the John Von Neumann Racing fraternity and the first VW and Porsche dealer in the USA. Still, to today this, SWB has had only four keepers from new, all on file and known. The bodywork is described as very presentable, with good shut lines and no obvious signs of rust or decay. The interior is in very fine and all original condition. The car is in full working order, sounds incredible and has a fresh Norwegian MOT. The general condition would be best described as usable with a fair patina. The next owner could simply use this pretty little 911 and even drive it home 'as-is' or add value to make it a true concours contender. Porsche 911 S and SWB prices have been robust in recent months with the auctions at Arizona showing there's still appetite for honest and rare cars like this. Being a 1965 year, this 911 would be eligible for racing at the finest racetracks and blue ribband events around the world.
