1967 Alfa Romeo Spider 1600 Duetto

Widely regarded as a design classic, the Alfa Romeo Spider (105/115 series) was produced by the Italian manufacturer from 1966 to 1993. With production spanning three decades and only incurring minor aesthetic and mechanical changes in that period, the car forever immortalised by Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate stands as a true credit to those first cars assembled by Pininfarina.

This Pininfarina-penned Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto was manufactured on May 16th 1967 and sold new in the UK as a righthand drive model in Farina White with black vinyl interior. Offered now in deeply original condition this charming little Alfa, one of just 380 manufactured by the gutsy Italian car makers, is a charming opportunity to either be appreciated as is or considered as a candidate for a sympathetic restoration.

Whilst the coachwork, interior and paintwork could benefit from some minor attention, the throaty 1570cc inline four cylinder twin-cam engine performs well; both the engine and the gear change are described by our vendor as responsive and accurate. Showing a believed genuine 96,000miles on the odometer this Duetto is accompanied by various bills, some expired MoTs and old-style plus new style V5C. We understand that the previous owner to our vendor bought the car with the intention to restore, but then had to sell after a change of plan. The previous owner to this had the car for 28 years and used it only sparingly.

Whilst we've identified that this car could benefit from some restoration works, it does have a current MoT and could be used in its current guise without concern. This really is a charming example of an early Spider Duetto that drives effortlessly, oozes style and would be a pleasure to own.
