DESCRIPTION
Silver, scallop shell-shaped trophy on a marble base with silver plaque affixed which reads 'Circuito Cesenatico 16-4-1967 Trofeo Shell'. Cesenatico was a 2.33 mile street circuit near San Marino on the Adriatic coast and was used from 1958 to 1971 for Italian Motorbike Championships. It featured long straights, 45° bends and a spectacular high speed jump. Used for rounds of the Italian Series, over 30,000 spectators cheered on their heroes including Ralph Bryans, Phil Read, John Cooper, Agostini and of course, Mike the Bike. The 'Shell Trophy' was awarded to Mike on 16th April 1967 after a dominant win on his Honda.
