SUMMARY

A late-production Series V benefitting from an older restoration and a recent mechanical refresh.

DESCRIPTION

  • The first generation Rapier, with its distinctive Audax bodywork, was created by the design firm of Raymond Loewy Associates in America
  • Produced in five series, getting ever more powerful over time, the last of the line Series V used the bullet-proof 1,725cc engine which had proven itself in the Sunbeam Alpine
  • First registered in 1967, the final year of production, this coupé must be one of the last built
  • Attractively finished in an Olive Green Metallic with a beige leather interior
  • The bodywork has been restored in the past using genuine new/old stock front wings, sills, bumpers and the over-riders were re-chromed.
  • Subject to recent major mechanical overhaul in the last 12 months including an engine rebuild, new Weber carburettor, water pump, clutch, brake servo and more (detailed in condition report)
  • Supplied with its original Sunbeam Rapier owners handbook and invoices for recent work
  • With its wind-down rear quarter windows, Walnut dashboard, wide array of instruments, overdrive gearbox and genuine 100mph performance, the Rapier pillarless coupé was undoubtedly the most stylish way to travel in 1967
