1968 Ford Lotus Cortina Mk II

Following on from the enormous success of the Lotus Cortina MK1, Ford introduced the Lotus Cortina MkII in 1967 with the famous Lotus 1600 twin cam engine now giving 109bhp. Externally all the cars had a black front grill, 5.5J x 13 steel wheels and Lotus badges on both rear wings and by the rear numberplate. The gearbox ratios remained to 2000E spec, but the final drive was lengthened to 3.77 to 1 from 3.9 to 1 and comfort and handling improvements were made with a larger fuel tank and radial tyres.This car has recently been the subject of significant expenditure and is now ready to be enjoyed on the road or form part of any serious Lotus collection. Recent work has included completely rebuilt and balanced carburettors, resulting in a smooth engine and superb engine bay that presents very well indeed. The interior has been lovingly recommissioned with new door cards and headlining and is in fine order. The bumpers have been totally re-chromed and look fantastic and the servo and master cylinder have been rebuilt. The result today is a most useable Mk II Cortina that should allow it to be used and enjoyed by its next owner and appreciate over time, as has been the case with Mk I's during the last 5 years. Supplied with its original 'OO' number plate, for those Ford aficionados out there, and an MoT test certificate until January 2014, this Lotus Cortina is ready to be used and enjoyed by its next owner.
