1968 Ford Mustang Fastback

The Ford Mustang generated over 100,000 orders in a month when first introduced in 1964. The Fastback was introduced in 1967 and was then forever immortalised by the famous Steve McQueen film 'Bullitt' which featured one of the greatest car chases ever made. Since then, quality Bullitt Mustang replicas have become the most desirable and collectable of all the Mustangs ever built.

This particular car has been painstakingly restored and is offered with the registration number JJZ 19 included (original McQueen car was JJZ 109!)

The vendor and the history file confirm that an enormous amount of time and work has been done on this car. This includes restoring just about everything and replacing it with upgraded parts with period enhancements and features that appeared on the original car used in the film. Apart from being finished in Highland Green and fitted with American racing wheels and Firestone tyres, the 4 speed manual car benefits from a 302 rebuilt engine with a Flowmaster performance exhaust system, a Holley 4 barrel carb, Mallory electronic ignition, Cobra valve covers, new starter motor, new alternator, new water pump, new radiator, new clutch, linkage and clutch fork, a Hurst shifter and a balanced prop-shaft with new universal joints.

The rebuilt brake system included new front discs and power brakes with new metal lines and rubber brake pipes, along with new handbrake cables. Additionally a new fuel tank, sender and metal fuel lines sit in a body-shell that has been completely restored with new parts, including: floor pans, front wings, front and rear bumpers, body bolt kit, grille, weather strips and light fittings.

The suspension and steering was rebuilt with new KYB gas shocks, leaf springs and poly bushes, coil springs, upper and lower arms, ball joints and bushes, power steering pump, ram, control; valve and hoses and a 'Flaming River' quick ratio steering box.

The interior has new carpets and seats, door panels, kick panels and additionally the car has been completely rewired. Even a period 'Moto-Lita' wooden steering wheel is fitted.
