DESCRIPTION
Introduced in May 1961 the Jaguar E-type was a sensation with great looks and performance unrivalled at the price. Often heralded as the most beautiful car of all time Jaguar, not surprisingly, made no significant changes till the introduction of the 4.2 engine in October 1964. Additionally they incorporated an all syncromesh gearbox, increased legroom and better torque from the new capacity engine. This resulted in the best E-type and now Grand Tourer to match the best being produced by Jaguars rivals. The E-type still continued to hammer the opposition on pricing.
As Jaguar responded to its world market they started to introduce changes from the Series 1 to the eventual Series 2. A transitional model filled the breach and would be known as the Series 1.5. This was the last E-type to sport the enclosed headlights and the limited numbers produced make it desirable with collectors and drivers alike.
Offered here is an early 1968 Jaguar E-ype Series 1.5 finished in the most desirable combination of Opalescent Silver Blue and black interior. It was restored to a very good standard in 1987, which has stood up to the test of time and now offers a very usable E-type. It has been in the same family ownership since 1989 and has been cherished, properly maintained and has all MOT's during that time of ownership.
The steady continuous climb in E-type values, even after the 50th Anniversary 'highwater mark', makes this a very worthwhile investment at a realistic level. The Series 1.5 is also the best driving E-type in our opinion.
