DESCRIPTION

The MGC was a 2912cc, straight-6 version of the MGB sold from 1967 and produced through to August 1969. In the twin SU carburettor form used in the MGC, the engine produced 145bhp at 5250rpm.

The body shell needed considerable revision from its predecessor around the engine bay and to the floor pan, but externally the only differences were a distinctive bonnet bulge to accommodate the relocated radiator and a teardrop for carburettor clearance. It had different brakes from the MGB, 15 inch wheels, a lower geared rack and pinion and special torsion bar suspension with telescopic dampers. Like the MGB, it was available as a Coupé and Roadster. An overdrive gearbox or three-speed automatic gearbox were available as options. The car was capable of 120 mph and a 0-60 mph time of 10.0 seconds.Offered here today is a truly fine example that we would be proud to own. The recipient of significant restoration some eight years ago, it has stood the test of time and presents exceptionally well in the flesh today, especially the paint which appears expertly finished. It is built and prepared to fast-road engine specification, though does still retain the original 2992cc 6 cylinder engine type as you'd expect. This is mated to the standard manual overdrive 4-speed gearbox but, with stainless steel manifolds and a straight-through exhaust, the sound and performance of the car feels somewhat enhanced - no doubt the by-product of a quality restoration.Maintained in recent years by the more-than-qualified engineers and proprietor of John Chatham Cars in Bristol, best-known for their fire-breathing competition Healeys, this is a really impressive motor car at a most inviting guide price. Offered with UK V5C and current MoT we can't imagine the sort of person or couple who wouldn't enjoy some spirited Sunday driving in such a car ...
