SUMMARY
With decent power, a lightweight shell and the looks of a classic 1950s racer, this little RSK offers serious fun.
DESCRIPTION
- Porsche's first successful competition cars were lightweight developments of its first road car, the Type 356
- Introduced in 1958, the 718 RSK featured a lightened and stiffened version of the preceding 550A's spaceframe chassis and completely redesigned front suspension
- In an illustrious career, the 718 RSK and its derivatives took countless class victories in international sports car racing and won the European Hill Climb Championship and the 1963 Targa Florio outright
- Beautifully built with excellent attention to detail and authenticity, this replica uses a GP Spyder kit in glass fibre and VW chassis and running gear
- It's very well presented in Aluminium Silver with a well finished cockpit in diamond-stitched, Saddle Tan leather with race harnesses, a fire extinguisher, electrical cut-off master switch and a wood-rim steering wheel
- Motivation is courtesy of a 1,600cc, twin-port, air-cooled VW with Solex carburettors and drum brakes all round assist retardation
- The donor vehicle appears to have been a 1968 1300 (1,600cc) Beetle and the Spyder remains registered as a 1968 Volkswagen so is MOT and tax exempt
-
Submitted to a Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency Test on 12/01/2024 and passed (equivalent to an MOT)
- Sensibly guided, we encourage your viewing at the NEC in Birmingham.
