SUMMARY
Delightful, enthusiast-owned, late-1960s Bedford comprehensively restored during seven years in current ownership.
DESCRIPTION
- The Debonair was a very stylish, top-of-the-range 'Dormobile' coachbuilt on an extended CA chassis. Glass fibre from the front wings back, full height, so no flip-top roof needed and originally had two separate bedrooms, a toilet compartment, and a cooker with oven
- Our vendors found this example in 2017, basically in pieces and commenced a comprehensive restoration
-
The chassis was stripped, repaired and recoated and the panel work and substructure were de-rusted and recoated
-
The outer panels, being mainly of 1960s-quality fibreglass, were not corroded but carefully prepared for the application of paint. Photos on file
-
The engine was rebuilt and fitted with a reconditioned head converted for unleaded with hardened valve seats and valves
-
The interior of these coachbuilt British campers are the heart and soul of the conversion. This interior has been obsessively recreated in period materials by industry leaders, Waboo Automotive (front seating), with the rears by Car Interiors
-
Now resplendent in burgundy and white, the results of all this work, as you can see from our images, are very impressive
-
Since the restoration, this gleaming Debonair has seen little use, just a couple of local shows where it was much admired
