DESCRIPTION

By the time the Escort was launched at the 1968 Brussels Motorshow, Ford's competition department had their Twin-Cam race/rally version ready to roll, and the company was duly rewarded with victory in the 1968 and 1969 World Championship for Makes. Ford then created the Mexico to capitalise on the Escort's dominance of the 1970 London to Mexico World Cup Rally and added the similar, but larger-engined RS2000 to the mix during 1973. Both models featured a specially strengthened Type 49 bodyshell and Rallye Sport suspension and brakes. The former was powered by a 1600cc 'Kent' engine, while the latter had a 2000cc OHC 'Pinto' unit.

Offered here is a fresh build 1979 RS2000 historic rally car to the highest of standards, and finished in the traditional colour of Olympic blue and white.

Shell - Double bulkhead, gusseted, skidded, short 4 link boxes historic spec, weld in tank platform, new floor pans, large gearbox tunnel, large diff tunnel, fully seam welded, turreted, firewall, full weld in cage, double door bars & diagonals. New front wings & front panel, steel bubble arches, sand blasted & bare metal re-spray, finished white inside & olympic blue outside, fiberglass bonnet & boot including internals, central alloy fuel tank with electric fuel gauge. Panhard rod tower. Aeroquip internal oil pipes. In date seats, new black titan belts, flocked dash top, plumbed in fire extinguisher. New Minilites x5, twin facet fuel pumps, fabricated alloy Stand, filter king adjusted, alloy reinforced foot rest, air horn.

Engine - 2.0 Pinto historic spec. Dry sumped, new rings & shell, zero mileage. 13 row oil cooler, alloy oil tank 2 gallons - in the boot, big valve head, polished & ported, 45 DCOE carbs Webers reconditioned by Nick Stagg motorsport, 3 piece pinto exhaust manifold, new exhaust system, torque starter motor, multi groove poly belt driving alternator/ water pump, external oil pump, remote oil filter. Competition Luminition ignition system & coil.

Gearbox - 4 Speed Tran-ex, rally ratio's, quick shift gear leaver, Group 4 single piece propshaft.

Axle - Group 4 wheel studs, wide fully floating atlas, diamond brackets for 4 link bars, Panhard rod bracket, Ap brake Brackets, 4.6 crownwheel & pinion, Lsd, Alloy 8mm Brace with diff skid.

Suspension: Front - Group 4 fully adjustable. Large platform wedged front strips, 300/70 top mounts 220 1b springs, Anti dive kit fitted with twin cam anti roll bar. Adjustable bottom arms.Rear - Group 4 fully turreted bilstiens, Slipper leaf springs, 2" lowering blocks.

Brakes -Front: AP forest alloy calipers, AP vented discs & Bells. Rear: Solid discs with calipers, hydraulic handbrake. Bias pedal box with dash adjuster. Aeroquiped throughout.

Supplied with a new MSA log book "CYA 635J" is on the button and ready to compete in historic rallying at a very competitive level.

Any cars not collected by 3pm on Monday 2nd August will be taken to our EM Rogers storage facility in

Northampton for a fee of £150 plus VAT. Storage will be charged at £10 plus VAT per day from Monday 2nd August onwards.

Automobilia can be collected from The Wing over the weekend or Monday morning between 9am

and midday by prior appointment. After this time it can be collected from our offices in

Warwickshire or shipped to you at your expense.
