SUMMARY

The perfect basis for an early 911 project, complete with running gear and UK registration.

DESCRIPTION

Background:

The Porsche 911 has been the marque’s most famous model for nearly 60 years. Early air-cooled models have become incredibly collectible thanks to their looks, beautiful flat-six engine, and superb engineering.

The Car:

We present here a complete clean-sheet project and the perfect basis to build an early 911. The car comes with a full UK V5 registration document, with the registration number above. While not actually a rolling shell, everything is there to get it rolling, with a huge amount of refurbishment work done and a lot of new parts purchased before a change of plans stalled the project. Invoices are available for the work, which exceeds £40,000.

Originally imported from the USA, a lot of money has been spent on having the bodywork and any corrosion issues rectified. There is a lot of new metal: floors, sills, outer rear quarters, front wings, engine lid, and bonnet are all new, along with repairs in many other areas such as inner wings, A-post, and B-post.

The shell includes the trolley on which it sits and has lovely lines and gaps. Prior to paint, it’s worth applying some attention to a few dents in the roof and some light attention to the rear windscreen seal flange, which is a little out of shape. Otherwise, it can happily be reassembled and painted as it stands.

As for the other components, the suspension has been completely overhauled; much of it is new or refurbished. See the list below for the included parts:

4 x New Maxilite wheels with New Pirelli tyres mounted

2 x Complete front refurbished suspension uprights with new Bilstein shock absorbers. New wheel bearings, wheel studs, brake disc, pads, calliper, brake hoses and top mounts.

2 x Complete rear refurbished suspension swing arms with new Bilstein shock absorbers. New wheel bearings, wheel studs, brake disc, pads, calliper, brake hoses, handbrake shoe assemblies and handbrake cables.

2 x New spring plates with bushes.

1 x Re-plated bag of suspension hardware.

1 x Refurbished front steering rack mount with new steering rack, track rod ends.

1 x Refurbished steering rack connector shaft with new UJ's.

2 x New wishbones, with new bushes, ball joints and torsion bar caps / adjusters.

2 x New fibreglass rear bumper corners with chrome bumper horns.

Summary:

A very rare and potentially mouth-watering opportunity to build your dream car, with much of the hard work already done. Whether that’s for road or track, that’s for you to decide.
