SUMMARY

Successful in the past in the Post Historic Pre-1974 Championship, this Ric Wood-engine MK 1 racer offers a variety of options to its next owner.

DESCRIPTION

Starting life as a 1971 3-litre MK 1, this competition Capri has been owned by its enthusiastic vendor since 2005 when he purchased it from a fellow Classic Touring Car Racing Club member and during his ownership has enjoyed much success in Post Historic Pre-1974 Touring Cars with outright wins, class wins and an overall Championship win in 2006.

Motive power is courtesy of a 3,100cc Ric Wood Motorsport race engine (two meetings-old after being refreshed) coupled to a 3000, 4-speed gearbox with Quaife close-ratio, straight-cut internals. The specification also includes Tony Law race manifolds and exhaust, limited-slip diff, AVO race suspension, gas dampers with external cylinders and two-way bump and rebound adjustment. Retardation is aided by AP front callipers with vented discs and the front brakes are adjustable for bias. Internally, it's fitted with a full roll cage and racing seat. It sits on 6 x 7” Revolution alloys wearing a set of  205/60R13 R888 Toyo Proxes. As with any competition car, it's best to check the validity and currency of any safety equipment.

Offering superb value for money considering the cost of its constituent parts, this venerable Capri offers a variety of exciting options to its next owner.
