Superbly crafted fast road-specification Series I FHC, comprehensively and professionally rebuilt over a number of years.

DESCRIPTION

  • Series I FHC UK car. First registered in 1971, comprehensively and professionally rebuilt over a number of years – this was a complete nut and bolt, back to bare metal, no expense spared re-build, estimated at over 3,500 hours, with comprehensive documentation and receipts
  • Returned to the road in 2007. Some 17,000 trouble-free miles since the re-build. Current mileage is 65,306
  • The car's specification and build details run to several pages and are listed on the Condition Report but include an English shell, fully rebuilt to minimise corrosion, fitted with new sills, arches, a new genuine Abbey Panels bonnet, and uprated front frames by E-Type Fabs
  • Fitted with a 4.2-litre XJ6 Series 3 engine running on triple 2" SU carburettors. Sulphided crank, stronger con rods & larger 17/8" inlet valves, lightened & balanced, ported head, VSE L4 cams, uprated valve springs. New cam chain tensioners & followers. Stainless steel manifold studs/head studs/big end bolts etc.
  • Tubular short branch 2" stainless steel exhaust manifolds & heavy duty stainless steel exhaust system manufactured by E-Type fabs provides maximum torque. Runs on unleaded petrol, allowing the engine to rev to circa 6k RPM, with estimated power output of 265bhp
  • New Getrag 5-speed gearbox, shortened & balanced prop shaft, heavy duty UJs, new Powerlock 3.07 diff
  • The whole drive train has been upgraded with improved suspension including Gaz shock absorbers and XJS front braking
  • Final bodywork preparation and painting carried out by the Hudson Motor Company. Finished in authentic RAL-matched, 1972 British Racing Green two-pack
  • Full service carried out in March 2023 (£2,188) prior to a planned trip to Spa for the Classic Race weekend

Body is an English shell, fully re-built to minimise corrosion, fitted with new sills & arches & a new genuine Abbey Panels bonnet. New uprated front frames by E Type Fabs fitted. The rear section has been de-seamed & lead loaded, with no bumpers fitted. The transmission tunnel is removable & the rear floor section has a removable panel to access the handbrake mechanism without the need to drop the rear axle unit. Steel heater pipes in the bulkhead have been replaced with copper pipes. Heated rear window, laminated windscreen & halogen headlamps fitted. Final bodywork preparation & painting carried out by Hudson Motor Company – Bradford. Finished in authentic RAL matched 1972 British Racing Green 2 pack.

Fitted with a 4.2 litre XJ6 Series 3 engine running on triple 2” SU carburettors, with ITG filter. This engine chosen as it has a sulphided crank, stronger con rods & larger 17/8” inlet valves as standard. Fitted with new 8.7:1pistons, the 9.1 compression ratio is slightly higher than standard as the head & block were skimmed 10thou. All new bearings fitted throughout. The engine has been lightened & balanced, linked to 11kg flywheel, fitted with uprated balanced clutch unit. Uprated, blue printed oil pump assembly (60psi) with 25psi oil pressure light switch. Oil cooler & XJ6 spin on oil filter. Series 1 E Type water pump modified to take larger XJ6 impellor. Radiator re-cored with 50% upgrade, fitted with Kenlow electric fan in aluminium cowl. The cylinder has been ported, fitted with VSE L4 cams & uprated valve springs. New cams chain tensioners & followers. Stainless steel manifold studs / head studs / big end bolts etc. Tubular short branch 2” stainless steel exhaust manifolds & heavy duty stainless steel exhaust system manufactured by E Type Fabs provides maximum torque. Adjustable GAZ shocks all round, with adjustable spring platforms and 9” 275lbs springs on rear suspension. Bump stops in shocks and body stops removed to clear tyres. Suspension fitted with mostly poly bushes giving standard ride height. 5 new Realm Engineering alloy reproduction Dunlop D Type racing wheels, shod with brand new Uniroyal RainExpert5 205x70x15” tyres. Vented discs, with modified Jaguar calipers, all round fitted with standard, hard compound V12 brake pads. Single remote bleed nipple on rear brakes. Stainless steel braided flexible & Kunifer brake pipes. Front uprights are Series 2 fitted with sealed for life bottom ball joints. Heavy duty UJs with grease nipples.

New modern battery for reliability. Ignition is a 123 programmable electronic distributor & Lucas sport coil. Classic silicon competition plug leads with NGK plugs. Pulse operated rev counter. Radiator fan on relay control to improve reliability. Standard form fan belt adjusted on alternator bracket (replaces difficult belt & problematic jockey wheel configuration). Extra heat shielding from exhaust. XJ6 fan heater motor. Heated rear window.

We will make contact on Sunday to confirm how you will be removing your vehicle(s). If we do not hear back by 9am on Monday morning, we will arrange collection with EM Rogers on your behalf.
